#PhotoCollage of the Day: Miss Russia 2017, Polina Popova

She’s the first blonde winner of the Miss Russia pageant in almost 12 years, Miss Russia 2017 Polina Popova will be competing in Miss World later this year in China. The 22 year old blue-eyed Polina bested 50 other candidates for the title. Standing at 5’11” this girl perfectly knows how to speak in English and is currently learning Chinese/Mandarin.

#PhotoCollage of the Day: Mister Universe Model, Kevin Montes

Standing at 6’4″ Mister Universe Model 2017 Kevin Montes surely knows how to stand above the rest… Kevin is 22 years old and is a Biology student from San Juan. The green-eyed blonde hunk posted this message on his social media account: “I find myself from Punta Cana airport about to get on the plane but before I leave I want you to know that I’m super proud to be able to bring this big achievement to my country. I feel very excited.
I want you to know that I don’t win, but I win a whole country. And this achievement I share with all my friends and followers because thanks to their constant messages of motivation we were able to achieve this goal that unites us as a family!”

He actually looks even better with facial hair…

#MANicMondays: Emanuele, Renz and Denver

Three Filipino hunks are competing this week in two international male pageants: Emanuele Mendoza and Renz Lesther Cerezo at Mister National Universe and Denver Hernandez in Mister Universe Model/ Men Universe Model.

Emanuel Mendoza – at 5’10- 5’11”, this Gentlemen of the Philippines hunk could easily make it to the initial cut of the contest. He represented the Philippines at the Best Global Model in Portugal last year. This year he represents Italy at Mister National Universe. A definite shoo-in on the top 5 if I may add.

Renz Lesther Cerezo – he is this year’s Philippine rep to Mister National Universe. The 5’10 1/2″ hunk oozes with sex appeal in his pictorial. He recently was named among the 4 best in talent, dancing to an Ifugao traditional dance. This guy is easily one of the underdogs of the competition and could possibly be one of the winners in the inaugural Thai-based male pageant.

Denver Hernandez – the sole Southeast Asian in this year’s Mister Universe Model competition in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. His lean tight frame is in contrast to the bulky muscular physiques of the rest of the candidates. But Denver gets the upperhand with sex appeal by the tons. For sure, another placement is at the works for us after missing the initial cut last year.

Wishing all these gentlemen the best of luck in their respective competitions! Bring home the bacon!

What You Don’t See during the Miss Universe Telecast Pt.3

This is the third and final installment of this series. In this part, we are gonna show you the things that happen during the announcement of the top 5 (or top 6) onwards.

After the top 5 are announced, they stay on the stage throughout the final moments of the pageant. The only time they go backstage again is when they are to do the final look. At this time, water is served to them while onstage. Lu Sierra would go up the stage several times throughout the broadcast to keep the girls motivated and with high energy.
Just noticing the same acrylic podium used during the top 5 Q&A. It is in this part that the interaction between the host and the girls are no longer scripted. Whatever adlibs the hosts says during the interaction with the girls are not included in the teleprompter.
Stage change for the final look. By this time the hosts are always positioned at the sides of the stage and would rarely be posted away from the stage.
One common noticeable blocking onstage is that in the past three pageants the interpreters are at the left side of the stage. This is where they enter and exit, while the guys with the headsets are always positioned at the right side of the stage (which was the same in the Doral, Las Vegas and Manila editions).
What most people don’t see is that when the top three are already called and positioned in front of the stage to do the final question, stagehands in suits are already waiting with headphones at the side of the stage. Also, when there is only the top 2 left onstage they will be asked to move closer to the front & center of the stage for the announcement of the winner…
There is a common myth that whoever has her hands on top when holding hands among the final 2 is going to the winner. This is not always the case as this may be true for Paulina Vega but not for Iris Mittenaere. Iris had her hands at the bottom of Raquel, Miss Haiti, who ended up as 1st runner up…
Gabriela Isler is the last outgoing MU to crown her successor from behind. Starting with Paulina Vega, the outgoing Miss Universe has crowned their successors from the side (just check how Paulina passed her crown to Pia)…
Within an hour of her coronation, the new Miss Universe are whisked to the press room where the media are ready to ask questions to the new winner. During the time of Pia Wurtzbach, she was asked tough questions ranging from the crowning controversy, political questions (on China vs the Philippines’ claim on disputed waters), etc… which she handled like a pro.
