Victoria Velasquez Vincent – From New Zealand with Love

She maybe raised as a Kiwi but she’s still a Filipina in heart. Her name is VICTORIA VELASQUEZ VINCENT… she’s 25 years old, stands 5’9, is of Filipino-Spanish-Irish and is probably a future Miss Universe Philippines.

Although Victoria was born and raised in New Zealand, her heart has always found a home in the Philippines all because of her Filipina mom. Her mother Josephine Martinez Velasquez Vincent is from Bacoor, Cavite, Philippines. The statuesque lass has relocated earlier in the year to the Philippines in pursue her pageantry aspirations.

Victoria has a meaty resume having been able to complete a double Masters degree in Architecture and Heritage Conservation. In 2016, she was accepted at the University of Auckland. When she earned her double master’s degrees in architecture and heritage conservation from the university on May 6, 2020, there was no graduation ceremony due to the global pandemic. Despite that she hopes to put both degrees in use here in the country with designing low-cost, sustainable housing for underprivileged communities in particular.

She describes herself as a natural born creative, a visionary, and a lover of travel. She loves to explore different parts of the Philippine archipelago. And so far has traveled to the following places:

  • Taal Volcano in Batangas
  • Boracay Island in Aklan
  • Dau Falls and Malapascua Island in Cebu
  • Siargao Island in Surigao del Norte
  • Coron, Palawan
  • Pintô Art Museum in Antipolo, Rizal

The vegan Victoria has a passion for art and photography, Filipino culture and history. On June 27, 2021, she took to Instagram to announce that she was accepting pre-orders of framed prints of photographs she took using either a Sony A7R3 or a DJI Mavic Pro 2 during her previous travels in New Zealand, the Philippines, Australia and Indonesia. She said 100 percent of the net proceeds would be donated to Filipino nongovernment organizations.

Victoria is undeniably a strong contender with her background and her substantial resume, we feel that there is still a need for her to be more approachable to the masses, not just to pageant fans. While we consider her to be a contender for the crown, we also hope that she shows deeper connection to the Filipino culture so that more Filipino fans would embrace her as one of our own. What she is going to face is the typical resistance from some fans to support a halfie who they do not have a connection with…and that is something that Victoria needs to overcome.

With the right strategy, she could easily overcome this road-block. And we hope she does…
