BREAKING NEWS! No Puerto Rico in Miss World!

It is officially announced that Puerto Rico will not participate in the Miss World this year in China. The local pageant was already moved the date twice: first by Hurricane Irma, then by Hurricane Maria that were both devastating to the country.

A press statement released by the org is as follows:
With deep regret we want to notify that this year the Miss World Organization of Puerto Rico will not send a representative to the international competition. Determinants were unexpected events. The international event changed its original date and moved it for the month of November. Our date for the celebration of the final of the local contest on September 13, 2017 was postponed by Hurricane Irma and on September 20 by Hurricane Maria. This last event of natural force had catastrophic results for our country, without communication made it impossible to complete responsibly the selection of a representative to the Miss World international contest for this year.
This was as communicated by the national director  Ana Avilés. And because of the situation of the country the MW-Puerto Rico Org cannot even communicate with the majority of the candidates. Hence whoever will be chosen as Miss World PR in November will be competing in 2018.
