Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa’s second foray at Binibining Pilipinas was marked with a blooming of sorts in terms of her personal style. In one of her recent Instagram posts, she explains the journey of her style and personal aesthetics.
“I have always been against big hair and heavy looking makeup 😅 When I joined Binibini the 2nd time around I told myself, I’d go as natural as I can. No frills, no big curls, no sequined dresses, no glitter, everything that was stereotyped a beauty queen. And during Miss International I upped it up a notch, no platform shoes, no short dresses, no dangling earrings, (I only brought pair of @jewelmer studs). I wanted to breakout of the stereotypical beauty queen mold. Neither did I wave like one either lol. I went as simple and as elegant as possible, with fighting spirit of course -or made it LOOK easy and effortless haha. Find out what works for you. Sometimes, though I give it a chance, given the right occasion.” – Kylie Verzosa, Miss International 2016
From the time that she stepped into the opening/ welcome event of MI2016 in a simple but dramatic Mark Bumgarner blush cocktail dress to her Francis Libiran national costume presentation, Kylie looked in control of her personal style. This is something that everyone could emulate. If there is something to learn from her is that every pageant girl should “do you”. After all you can’t go wrong if you are authentic to yourself…
Kylie Verzosa shows us when you are diligent with your job as Miss International you get to reap the rewards of your hardwork…
After her crowning as Miss International last year, the Baguio beauty has been busy with numerous public appearances and endorsements. Kylie has recently traveled to Singapore for her mental health awareness advocacy and was able to visit Singapore’s Institute of Mental Health. While in Singapore, she also paid a courtesy call to the Philippine Ambassador’s residence to talk more about the importance of mental health and how it should be treated without stigma from society. She has also just recently launched her advocacy Facebook Page: Mental Health Matters By Kylie Verzosa where she discusses more about Mental Health awareness. Kylie also recently visited Japan where she visited the cities of Kyoto and Tokoshima. She traveled there as part of her official Miss INternational duties.
But let’s not forget her recent projects and endorsements. Aside from being the Brand Ambassadress of Samsung Galaxy A, Kylie was also tapped to be the brand endorser of BAYO, a renowned local clothing brand for women. The collaboration features her go-to-designer Francis Libiran’s collection for the local retailer. Kylie was also one of the models tapped to walk the designer’s recent fashion show in Cebu.
She was also one of several beauty queens and international titleholders to have been invited at the inauguration of Hannah’s Beach Resort Premium Suites in Balaoi, Pagudpud. She was with reigning Miss Earth Katherine Espin and 2013 Miss World Megan Young. The Baguio lass was also invited to grace Bagiuo’s most celebrated flower festival. Wearing another Francis Libiran terno, she rode one of the main floats at the Panagbenga Flower Festival.
She is not yet halfway through her reign yet she already is as busy as a (queen) bee. watch out for more to come in the coming months ahead for Miss International 2016, Kylie Verzosa…
EDIT: (Ma’am Raquel Verzosa, Kylie’s mom, sent us this message and update)
I also want to share that she is active in university tours doing her advocacy on Mental Health Awareness helping the youth most especially. She has a line up of other university tours coming along. It is hectic but you will never hear her complain about it.
She was also part of the Philippine Psychiatric Association convention last January where she engaged all 400 psychiatrists from all over the Philippines with her talk about depression.
Kylie has just started and she is taking the right path in helping save lives. Truly, she is a queen whose love overflows
Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa tells the what makes the Japan-based international competition different from other pageants.
“Miss International is a different pageant because you get to know the girls more. They (judges and organizers) get to talk to the girls, know the girls on a personal level. They base it on how the girls work backstage and their personality.”
Regarding the final speech portion of the pageant, she mentions that “it’s a prepared speech. Before coming here, I already had in mind what I wanted to talk about and these are the things I thought are most relevant and things that hit my heart.“
Kylie will be coming back to Manila on November 11th after spending a couple of weeks with the rest of her Miss International 2016 runners up.
Kylie Verzosa seems to be doing well in Japan as expected.
If social media is an indication, she is never out of photos in the Miss International social media, which is a fair gauge that she is well liked. Looking at her progress in the competition, she is never out of the limelight without being over-aggressive. This seems to be a good strategy for her as she gets more than her fair share of publicity. Judging by group shots during tv shows and other public appearances, she may not be front and center all the time but she is always at the front. Her social media posts are always very apt and well-thought of as well, which shows careful consideration on her part. She never appears un-made or overdressed/ underdressed in her public appearances showing great discipline and style. There is no need for her to make unnecessary noise or hype and let her actions and performance speak for itself.
For now Kylie is coasting well along the competition and she is delivering at the points where it matters most.
