The Boracay Closure and Miss Universe 2018!

We said it before and we are saying it again… The hosting of the next Miss Universe in the Philippines is almost a done deal!

Rumors that the Boracay closure might have something to do with the Miss Universe hosting flew around insider circles a week ago and this is now being reported by Inquirer in their latest news article.
Snippets of the article as follows:
The Department of Tourism (DOT) may bid for the country’s hosting of the 2019 edition of the Miss Universe pageant as a way to reintroduce Boracay to the world once the six-month rehabilitation of the world-famous island has been completed.
Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo said in a government podcast that during a recent Cabinet meeting, President Rodrigo Duterte himself raised the idea of having Boracay host next year’s Miss Universe to help the island recover from expected revenue losses.
Even though the news report from Inquirer reports that the hosting would be for next year, our insider moles kept on insisting that the Senatorial elections for next year might hinder the 2019 hosting.
