In an interview with property-report.com, the steel blue eyed stunner reveals why she decided to stay in Thailand for good.
“The country and the people gave us such a warm welcome; it was hard not to fall in love with it. I felt so comfortable in Thailand and the Thais have even given me a local nickname, Fah. I’m very happy with my decision to settle here, because so many wonderful and amazing things have happened to me to make this a very special place in my heart.”
Natalie isn’t the first Miss Universe titleholder to move to another country following her victory. The very first Miss Universe Armi Kuusela moved to Manila after marrying Filipino Virgilio Hilario back in the 50’s. As for Natalie, she enjoyed a string of endorsements and work in Thailand. She even married a local Thai sportsman before finally finding her King with Junior Dean Kelly, who is coincidentally Mister Panama 2001. She and Dean are living in Thailand with their daughter Maya. When asked if what other countries would she like to live in she says, “I’d love to live in Bali, Indonesia one day. It has such a lovely charm and atmosphere, and the food there is just as good as Thailand. I could also see myself living in Hong Kong, as it reminds me of New York City in some ways, and I love NYC!”
Her Miss Universe reign allowed her to travel to numerous places but she always found herself coming back to Thailand. And as they say, home is where the heart is and that is exactly what Thailand is for its adopted daughter, er rather adopted Miss Universe winner…
